Prison Visiting

Jesus couldn't have been clearer, prison is one of the places that we will meet Him. "I was in prison and you visited me". We visit those in prison not because they need our help but because we realise that we are just like them! In desperate need of grace, mercy and friendship. Visiting is more than a pious good deed, it is an act of identification, solidarity and friendship. So we go not with any agenda other than friendship and a faint hope that we will meet Jesus there.

There is a fantastic non-political/non-religious organisation which organises visitation in Dover IRC and Canterbury Prison. They provide training, and will hook you up with a prisoner who you can then organise to visit on a regular basis. We run CV support groups for visitors once a month.
The first training will be on Wednesday the 13th of January 2010, at the Prison right next to Christchurch University. If you want to visit you will need to fill in and submit the following forms.
