Indefinite Detention

Religion Sucks. Grace Acts. This blog is a clearing house for a movement. We hope that these articles will prod, provoke and inspire you to re-discover the good news which Jesus proclaims.

Indefinite Detention

You may have seen the installation at the back of the Warehouse? It is a mock up of a small cell which when you enter plays the film 1000 Voices.

Thousands of migrants are held indefinitely in detention centres across the UK. Life in detention is not easy, not knowing if you will be sent back to the place that you fled in fear or in hope of a better life. I hope that you will have been impacted by this film and by the installation which is designed to stimulate some brief sense of understanding or empathy with the detainee. If you have been moved please contact the Dover Detainee Visitors Group. They organise for volunteers to visit detainees and will hook you up with training and introduce you to a detainee. From experience I can say that you will both benefit immensely from the ensuing friendship.
